Sunday, funky sunday!

Questionable designs at the Flash Mob Shop

Kreislauf 4 und 5, was all about Design in the Langstrasse region. I read about it and thought I give it a try on such a cloudy Sunday. I was impressed by Senior Design, a new little store founded by the two open minded designers Debora and Benjamin. Their goal is to blow new life into old-fashioned handcrafting together with seniors, which has not only a creative but also a very social aspect. A Café will follow in the summer to complete their mission. My next stop was the Bermuda Garage, neighbor of Maison Blunt! This weekend it was hosted by the Flash Mop Shop, popping up once in a while to offer space for designers and artists in a very individual atmosphere. There were a lot of self-made Bikinis, a DJ, a coffee bar and Farbspur. Here you had the chance to create your own screenprint on a simple cotton bag for 9 CHF only. Something I definitely could afford and wanted to have! Farbspur offers courses for kids and adults even with their own designs. Wow, what an inspiring afternoon!

Oh summer where art thou?

Not here anymore that's for sure! Please come back soon, cause my sun terrace looks pretty depressing now. But rainy days are a good chance to take a look at the endless numbers of Brocki houses, with bending shelves full of second hand articles. No matter what you're looking for, Brocki gets it to you, if you keep on searching for treasures. It's also a good place to drop of stuff you don't need before moving. Brockis for books are pretty convenient, because boxes full of books are the nightmare of moving.

Everything but James

Yesterday was such a beautiful and even too hot day which ended for me in Maison Blunt, an excellent spot in Zurich for Morrocan dinner, shisha lounging or even a great breakfast. So it's not a surprise that this lovely place in the Langstrasse area is pretty much crowed 24/7. Reservations are a must. While sitting inside with my friends in the candle enlightend former garages, it started pouring out of nowhere. You might ask yourself why an unemployed Zurich Outsider goes out for dinner. Well, I just stole the whole bathroom equipment for the next flee market to make it even.

What to do in Zurich

Zurich is a city of numbers. There are so many things to count. For example if you are sitting in the Tram and are bored, try to count some funny things, famous for Zurich! The easiest thing to count is a Louis Vuitton bag. It's incredible how many you see on the street. There are the rich ladys, with big shades, Tod's loafers and golden rings on every finger of their veiny hands. Then the teenage girls, with their fake ones, broken at some parts. You can count man without suits, dogs that look like rats, which are as fashionable as their masters, or try rusty cars, that's a hard one. One morning while I was standing in the kitchen waiting for the water to be boiled, I counted nine Porsches within five minutes. That's a record! What do you count in Zurich?

First Post

Being unemployed is something I thought would never happen to me. All sudden it's there and it pretty much catapults me in front of a huge mirror confronting me with the only thing but me. But this is not the beginning of a sad story. It's about keeping your humor and enjoying every bit of life, even if it's sometimes more bitter than sweet. So this is the Fragile Giant in Zurich kicking some polished ass.
